LUDHIANA: Ten artists have come from different parts of Punjab to display their artwork at Gallery Artmosphere, here.
While some have highlighted social issues, others have depicted different facets of women. In the exhibition -- 'Dastak' -- 55 paintings and six sculptures have been displayed. Ludhiana-based artists who have exhibited their paintings include Gurbax Singh Arora, Harpreet Kaur, Jaspreet Mohan Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Meenu Ahuja and Praveen Kumar.
Jaspreet Mohan Singh, a renowned city painter, shows ''struggle of life, rebirth and reunion'' through his paintings. ''Painting is an all-together different experience. It requires a lot of time and concentration,'' he says.
About his work, Gurbax Singh says, ''I have depicted different stages of a woman's life and shown the most empowered form in the form of Goddess Kali. My paintings also try to create awareness about environment.''
Harcharan Singh from Patiala has portrayed art historian Dr BN Goswamy, who is his role model, and his niece, while Mandeep Singh Manu's digital prints present the 'padma' of Lord Krishna. An artist has put forth a mother's compassionate and sacrificing qualities with a black ball pen. Subash Chandra's series of drawings depict fear, depths and heights.
In the midst of exhibition hall, a wooden sculpture by Jaswinder Singh defines the hardships of labourers.
The price range of paintings is from Rs 3,000 to Rs 15,000. The exhibition, which started on February 23, will continue till March 1.
